BROADTAIL
Lamb again - baby lamb so very young that its hair has not grown. Broadtail is Persian Lamb taken from the stillborn, or perhaps the unborn lamb taken when the mother has died. Under no circumstances are ewes sacrificed - a ruinous procedure in any point of view - commercial or otherwise.
At this tender age the moiré markings of the very fine, short hairs are exquisite. The pelt is supple as velvet. Naturally the leather is thin and delicate so this "Fur" is a perishable one and demands the greatest of care. It should be purchased neither for wear nor for warmth - only for beauty.
Persian broadtail, a very flat Persian lamb of good quality, is a little older than the regular classification and has slightly longer hair. Because the leather is thicker it gives better service than genuine broadtail. American broadtail is processed lamb, sheared very close, pressed and dyed in black and fancy shades. It is less lovely but wears better than real broadtail.
Krimmer or "crimmer," comes from the Crimean and Ukrainian sections of Russia. It has a more open curl than Persian lamb and is not as highly lustred. It is used in its natural gray coloring. It has a reputation for being one of the best wearing Furs. It is especially suitable for youthful styles.
