The Fading of Colors
The Fading of Colors:
All Furs will fade, if exposed to direct sunlight, whether natural or dyed. As a rule these changes are gradual and the result is not unpleasant. However, such fading can be greatly retarded by keeping your Furs out of strong sunlight. Hang them giving them ample room - don’t crush your Fur in between other apparel in a closet when not in use; don’t hang them over a chair where the sun can reach them, and be sure to bring or mail them to us for cold storage when out door temperatures consistently rise above 50 degrees.
Marten, mink, muskrat, and other brown Furs will turn lighter in color whether natural or dyed. White Fox, ermine, and other white Furs change to a slightly yellow tint. Others change color but not enough to be noticeable. Our Sir Charles Furriers' experts can custom formulate color restoration by a variety of specific techniques. Restoring color and luster not only where fading has taken place but also in blending or renewing the overall appearance of the Fur garment.
